JEE Main 2019: Application Form, Important dates, Eligibility criteria

JEE Main 2019: Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is one of the popular engineering entrance examinations in the country. From the year 2019, the National Testing Agency will organize this entrance examination for offering admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes like B.Tech/ B.E & B.Arch in IIITs, NITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions funded by participating State Government etc. The JEE Main will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the applicants have to appear if they are seeking for admission to the UG courses offered by the ISM/ IITs.

It is notified that JEE Main 2019 application form will be accessible from 1st September for Jan 2019 session. Aspirants, who want to appear in JEE Main 2019, are requested to download the information brochure from the official website of conducting body and read it carefully before applying.

Changes Introduced Last Year in JEE Main

• There shall be no weightage given to class 12th marks while preparing JEE Main merit. 
• Candidates, who are keen to find admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based upon JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) marks, they must have scored minimum 75% in class 12^th exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12^th exam organized by the respective boards. SC/ST category candidates have to score minimum 65% marks in the class 12^th exam.
• The State of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttarakhand and some other institutions joined JEE Main examination system last year. However, their admission criteria will be intimated by the concerned authorities only.
• Because there will be no weightage of class 12th marks in preparing JEE Main rank list. Hence, the exam conducting authority will not verify your class 12th roll number. However, you have to produce your class 12th mark sheet with 75% marks during counselling/admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs.

Eligibility criteria

Aspiring candidates willing to apply for JEE Main 2019 are requested to read the information booklet carefully and ensure their eligibility as per the prescribed criteria laid down for JEE (Main). The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2019 are as follows:

Educational criteria

• Qualifying examination: Candidates should have passed the 12th examination or its equivalent examination with at least five subjects i.e. Physics, Language, Mathematics as mandatory subjects and anyone from the Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Technical Vocational Subject and any other subject in order to be eligible for JEE Main 2019.
• Year of passing qualifying examination: Candidates who have passed qualifying examination i.e. 12^th in 2017 and 2018; or candidates who are appearing the qualifying examination in 2019 are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2019.
• Diploma holders are permitted to get admission into IITs only. They have to appear in JEE Advanced.
• Admission to IITs, NITs, CFTIs will be strictly based on All India Rank subject to the condition that applicant must have obtained at least 75% (65% in case of SC/ST) marks in the 12th examination or be in top twenty percentile in the 12th examination organized by the respective boards.
• Candidates who have either passed or appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state where the study center is situated.

Age Criteria

Candidates, who are born on or after 1st October 1994, will be eligible to appear in JEE Main 2019. However, 5 years upper age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST & PWD category.

Note: Date of Birth as recorded in 10^th or secondary education board certificate will only be considered.

Number of Attempts:

Only 3 attempts will be given for qualifying the JEE Main.

JEE Main 2019 Application forms: How to apply?

Interested and eligible candidates have to apply online only through official website of JEE (Main) i.e. www.jeemain.nic.in. Candidates are advised to read the information booklet carefully before starting the online application process. It is notified that the online application procedure will be commenced from 1st September 2018 2018 onwards. The important information related to JEE Main application form 2019 are given below:

• Aspirants have to visit the official website to fill JEE Main application form.
• It should be noted that no other printed or offline mode will be entertained to apply for JEE Main.
• Applicants should possess Aadhaar Enrollment Number/ Aadhaar Number/Registration Number provided by facilitation center to apply for JEE main 2019.
• Candidates have to provide all the required details while filling up the online application form.
• Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the prescribed manner.
• On the successful submission of details, an Acknowledgement Page with Application Number will be generated. Take the print of the same and keep it safe for future reference.

Application Fee

For the successful submission of JEE Main 2019 application form, candidates have to pay a certain amount as necessary application fee. The fee can be paid either through credit card/debit card or e-challan. The JEE Main 2019 Application fee may differ from category to category. Having good knowledge on examination pattern such as the number of questions, marking scheme, subjects covered, will help you in the better preparation of the JEE Main exam.
